If you are completely new, start with Bachata Beginner. Once you know the basics, you can continue in Bachata or explore a specialist style. Always read the prerequisites for your chosen course.
Beginner
No previous dance experience is needed. Start with Bachata basic steps, rhythm and simple partner movements. This level also suits anyone who wants to revisit the basics.

Different expressions of Bachata
Dominican Bachata, Fusion and Sensual are some common approaches. They share roots but have different areas of focus. If you are completely new, you do not need to choose a specialism yet. Start with Bachata Beginner.
Dominican Bachata
The Dominican style stays close to Bachata’s roots. Rhythm, footwork and connection with the music play a central role. Steps can reflect guitar phrases and other rhythmic details, both in partner dancing and individual movement.

Bachata Fusion
Fusion describes Bachata that combines its basic steps with influences from other dance styles, such as Salsa and Tango. Turns, variation and personal expression can play a larger role. On a social dance floor, you will often encounter a mix of approaches.

Sensual Bachata
Sensual Bachata explores body isolations, waves and communication between leader and follower. Technique and clear communication help the movements work together. You build on your Bachata basics.
How your course works
A regular course consists of 7 classes × 75 minutes and is booked as a full course. The schedule shows the start date, day, time, level, teacher and studio. Open the course booking in Coursely from there.
You are welcome with or without a dance partner. We usually rotate partners in partner dance classes, but joining the rotation is optional. If you come together, you may keep dancing with each other.

Develop your own Bachata
Bachata Ladies Styling
Develop individual technique, movement and personal expression. Styling can complement your partner dancing or give you space to work on your own dancing. Check the course information for the level and format.
Bachazouk
Bachazouk combines Bachata with movement and technique from Zouk. Read the prerequisites carefully: Foundations in a specialist style does not automatically mean a course for someone who has never danced.

Bachata is music and dance from the Dominican Republic. Its music developed from influences including bolero and Afro-Antillean musical traditions. Guitar, rhythm and everyday stories shape its expression, and the dance plays an important part in social gatherings.
As Bachata has spread internationally, more approaches to the dance have developed. Today’s dance floors often bring together Dominican footwork, turns and Sensual movements. Dominican Bachata music and dance were inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2019.

Do I need previous dance experience?
Not for Bachata Beginner. If you have danced before, compare the level descriptions and contact us if you would like help choosing.
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothes that allow you to move and indoor shoes suitable for dancing. You may also want to bring a water bottle.
What language are classes taught in?
All our regular courses can be followed in English.
Can I use a Swedish wellness allowance?
Dance courses involving physical activity may qualify for the Swedish wellness allowance (friskvårdsbidrag). Your employer decides the conditions that apply. See prices and wellness payment options.
